WHAT ARE THE BENFITS OF NATURAL MAKEUP OVER MAINSTREAM MAKEUP?
Our skin absorbs up to 60% of the ingredients in products we put on it, within minutes. Natural and organic makeup does not contain toxic chemicals, like mainstream make-up, therefore it’s safer and healthier to wear.
DOES NATURAL MAKEUP LAST AS LONG AS MAINSTREAM MAKEUP?
It depends on the products you are comparing it to. Lula Fox Ecolux Make-up is professional grade and provided you have primed your skin, the makeup is applied correctly and set with powder, our rigorous testing has shown that our make-up lasts as long as mainstream make-up. You just need to choose the right products for your lifestyle.
IS NATURAL MAKEUP PHOTOGRAPHIC?
Lula Fox is most definitely photographic. Our founder Sinead Brook is a professional photographer and she uses it exclusively on all her professional photoshoots and bridal make-up applications.
WHAT IS THE BEST NATURAL FOUNDATION?
In our experience there is no “one foundation suits all”. The foundation you choose depends on your skin type (dry, normal/combination or oily) and the coverage you are wanting to achieve. We have a choice of two lines of foundation; moisturizing and oil free which cover a large spectrum of skin tones. HOW CAN I ORDER FOUNDATION ONLINE?
It's definitely best to try foundation colour and formula before you buy. Book a complimentary colour consultation at the Lula Fox Studio in your own time or we sell samples packs with orders. Alternatively check out the Shade Finder tab to help you select the correct shade for you.
HOW DOES NATURAL MAKE-UP FEEL COMPARED TO MAINSTREAM MAKEUP?
Mainstream make-up often has toxic ingredients such as parabens used as a preservative, petroleum used as a moisture barrier agent, talc used as a “filler” and lanolin used as a moisture binding agent. We have substituted these ingredients for the likes of shea butter, jojoba seed oil, candelilla wax, rosemary leaf and grapefruit extracts which feed and nourish the skin. Natural cosmetic products usually either don’t have a smell or they are infused with essential oils. If it has un-natural or chemical odor, this indicates that it contains phthalates, parabens, toxic synthetic fragrances and / or other chemicals.
Our eyeshadows tend to be softer than mainstream makeup as we don’t utilize chemical binding agents, as a result, they go on easily and blend easily but you need to be a little less heavy handed on your application. Similarly, our lipsticks are made with natural waxes and are very moisturizing and apply easily. So they have a slightly softer texture to mainstream make-up.
HOW DO I KNOW WHAT COLOURS ARE BEST FOR ME?
As for eye shadows, people usually suit more colours than they realise. Most ladies are very hesitant to experiment with any other colours than natural earthy tones. When choosing the correct foundation shade, always match your colour to your jaw line or chest, not your neck as it is always the palest area.

IS LULA FOX CRUELTY FREE?
Our entire range of make-up and make-up brushes is vegan and cruelty free and not tested on animals. Only the lipliners would not be considered vegan as they utlize beeswax.
It probably doesn’t even occur to most people that their makeup brushes are sourced from animals. Common “hairs” used in makeup brushes are from sables, minks, goat, ox and pony. The Lula Fox vegan professional make-up brushes are synthetic and cruelty free. They make for easy application and blending for a professional finish.
I APPLY MY MAKEUP QUICKLY WITH MY FINGERS, IS IT OK NOT TO USE A BRUSH?
Using your fingers is fine sometimes, especially when it comes to liquid foundations and cream based products as the warmth of your hand helps the product to blend. If you want picture perfect blending and finish, a brush does come in handy though, especially using the Lula Fox Magic Wand which blends the foundation precisely and easily. Brushes are a necessity when it comes to eye makeup and contouring. You just can’t achieve the same results without a brush to be precise in application and to blend evenly.
HOW DO I CLEAN MY MAKEUP BRUSHES?
This we found as a massive problem as there were limited options in cleaning make-up brushes that were non toxic. So we formulated our own, Lula Fox Goats Milk Brush Shampoo and the Lula Fox Natural Brush Cleanser. Use the Brush Cleanser to spray the brushes in between eyeshadow, gel liner and lipstick colours. For a more thorough wash the Goats Milk brush shampoo works a charm for all brushes and sponges.
HOW OFTEN SHOULD I CLEAN MY MAKEUP BRUSHES?
For personal washing brushes once every week is ideal. In between uses, you can also spray your brush with a natural Brush Cleanser which contains diluted natural antibacterial tea tree oil, and lavender.
HOW OFTEN SHOULD I REPLACE MY MAKEUP?
All makeup products have varied expiry dates. Liquids will always expire sooner than powders. Generally mascaras should be replaced every 3 months, other liquids can last up to 6-12 months and powders 2+ years. You can usually tell if a product has expired due to the smell and consistency of product.
WHAT IS THE BEST SKIN CARE ROUTINE?
Everyone’s skin is different and will suit different products. When it comes to skincare, it is really important to keep your skin clean and moisturized and hydrated. It is equally important to ensure you adequately remove your make-up at the end of the day. We provide the Botanical Eye Make-up Remover which is fabulous at removing even the most smouldering smokey eye application safely. Cleanse your face day and night with a gently natural soap or cleanser and moisturize day and night. We also have found that natural Beauty/Face oils are a wonderful addition to your usual beauty routine. We are launching 3 fabulous natural Beauty Serums with essential oils for Dry, Normal and Oily skins.
HOW DO I APPLY MAKEUP LIKE A PRO?
